Watch: Germiston and surrounding areas still without water

City of Ekurhuleni stated the revovery period after maintenance work can take between three to 15 days.

Ekurhuleni technicians are monitoring the water supply in Bedfordview, Primrose, and Germiston as the system struggles to recover following maintenance by Rand Water.

The water utility completed scheduled maintenance on July 17.

“However, the system’s recovery has been slow, impacting water supply to areas including Primrose, Bedfordview, and Germiston,” said City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

There is a slight improvement in the water supply in these areas. Low-lying areas have started to receive water, while high-lying areas continue to experience low pressure.

“The recovery period can take between 3 to 15 days after maintenance.

“High-lying areas typically take longer to recover as water pipes and towers need to reach specific levels before technicians can start pumping,” said Dlamini.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to use water sparingly to help stabilize water levels at the affected reservoirs.
