Hoërskool Goudrif hosts first-ever trolley dash, boosting school spirit and fun

Hoërskool Goudrif made history this year with its first-ever Trolley Dash.

In was an action-packed, laughter-filled event that capped off the third term in spectacular style.

Each team consisted of one teacher and one prefect, with partnerships drawn randomly from a hat.

Sixteen teams competed, each designing and decorating their trolley and selecting creative team names to showcase their spirit and personality.

From the moment the whistle blew, the school grounds were buzzing with excitement. Teams like Road Runners, Fast and Fabulous, Smokey Bam, The Bosses’ Chariot, Are We There Yet, Trolley Titans, Stache Crashers, Shoprite Sprinters, and Phanda Pusha Play dashed around the track, cheered on by spirited learners (armed with water balloons for good measure).

By the end, contestants were drenched, but the joy and school unity were well worth every splash.

The event concluded with smiles, cheers, and drenched heroes, reminding everyone that Goudrif knows how to combine fun with school spirit.

Even headmaster Deon Janse van Rensburg joined in, showing that the love for school events spans all levels.

Larinda Scholtz, a member of the School Governing Body, was the organiser of the event.

“With laughter, school pride, and a touch of competitive chaos, the Trolley Dash reminded us why events like these are so memorable. Here’s to even more fun, unity, and creativity in next year’s race,” said Janse van Rensburg.
