Primrose champ takes crowned at Emperors

Koopman had reason to celebrate after beating Duku.

Primrose’s Keanu ‘Sniper’ Koopman was crowned the South African Welterweight champion on December 6 at Emperors Palace.

The boxer, who boxes out of the Brian Mitchell Boxing Academy gym in Edenvale, was in action against Bonke Duku of Orlando East in an undercard contest on the Rivalry Reloaded Box and Dine tournament bill at Emperors Palace’s Centre Court on Friday evening.

Koopman had Duku in trouble in the fifth round of their clash for the vacant SA Welterweight title before a barrage of blows from the Primrose fighter had the referee stop the fight in the eighth round to hand Koopman the TKO victory and the belt.

Koopman had reason to celebrate after he beat Duku.
