Another business in Nigel targeted by armed robbers

Another business robbery took place last week - this time Vodacom Chatz in Hendrik Verwoerd Street fell victim, when five men entered the shop around 09:20 on July 18 and approached the sales counter.

Sales manager Eugene Da Silver shared his frightening ordeal with HERAUT, saying at first everything appeared normal as two of the men approached him for an airtime transaction.

Later, after the five robbers pulled out weapons, Eugene and a cellphone technician were pushed to the back of the shop. Their hands were tied and they were ordered to lie down as the robbers in front cleaned out the display cabinets.

The robbers made off with cash, a bunch of dummy cellphones a computer and a number of cellphones that were handed in for repairs by customers.

The robbery is being investigated by SAPS Nigel.
