Man walks into shop as customer – walks out as thief

NIGEL - When load shedding presumably got the better of a man, he desperately implemented a brilliant scheme to purchase a generator without paying for it.

This is what happened on August 17 when a man walked into CoalTech Nigel as a customer, and walked out as a thief.

He “bought” a generator worth around R7000, loaded it into his car and told the sales person he forgot his money at home.

He apologetically offered to collect the money immediately and even suggested that one of the employees escort him to his house which he mentioned.

As they arrived at the man’s house, he politely asked the employee on escort to open the entrance gates. As the employee set off to oblige, the customer sped away with his brand new unpaid for generator, leaving behind an employee stricken by panic and confusion.
A case of theft was reported to SAPS Nigel and the police are now looking for the man whose face is all over the company’s CCTV footage.
