A video shows approximately 30 EMPD vehicles housed in a stockyard. The DA said it is concerned about the shortfalls of having so many of the metro’s emergency vehicles out of commission.
With alarmingly poor response times due to a shortage of patrol cars, the DA will be posing questions to council regarding the appropriate turnaround time when servicing the Metros vehicles, as well as which precincts are suffering due to the large number of immobile cars.
The needs of communities should always be at the forefront, and it’s increasingly worrying that the metro’s emergency services have fallen into disarray with a massive amount of the EMPD’s resources not functioning effectively.
“It is unacceptable that the members responsible for keeping our community safe by placing their lives on the line do not have the necessary tools to deliver services effectively,” Mary Goby, shadow MMC for community safety said.
The DA wants to know what the EMPD directors and acting chief of police are doing to resolve this issue.
