Entities educate community on pertinent issues
Ratanda SAPS members conducted a school visit and door-to-door campaign on February 23.

The areas in Ratanda they visited are Ext 6 and Round 14 informal settlement.
The stakeholders forming part of the campaign included the Ratanda SAPS, the Department of Health, GBV brigades, a Green Door ambassador, Harvest Outreach Centre, Lesedi Local Municipality, femicide brigades, Leratong, the Department of Social Development, Alpha Trauma and the Road Safety Council.
The organisations first visited Ratanda Bertha Qxowa Primary School and conducted a school talk for the 180 learners in Grades Four to Seven, and taught the learners about issues that could affect them, such as bullying, sexual assault, circumcision, substance abuse, human trafficking and early pregnancy.
They visited Ratanda Ext 6 and Round 14 informal settlement next.
In the door-to-door campaign, the stakeholders handed out about 500 pamphlets.
They also educated the community on GBV, domestic violence, substance abuse, reporting corrupt police officials, sexually transmitted infections and teenage pregnancies.
The organisations visited about 100 homes and spoke to roughly 250 community members.
