Cebisa pupil (17) stabbed to death inside school premises in Wesselton
It is also alleged that another incident occurred at eMadamini today which also led to another pupil, who was suspended from school, being stabbed to death.
WESSELTON – A grade 9 learner (17) was stabbed to death with a knife at Cebisa Secondary School this morning, August 16.
According to information provided by an SGB member, both pupils are allegedly affiliated with gangs.
“There was an altercation between pupils who allegedly belong to two gangs on Friday (August 12) which led to the elder brother of the now-deceased, who is also a pupil, getting stabbed inside the school bus. This altercation continued today. It’s very unfortunate that we had to witness such a gruesome incident in the school premises.”
He went on to say that gang fights are common in this school, and that it has now become a crime hotspot as teachers fear for their lives.
It is also alleged that another incident occurred at eMadamini today which also led to another pupil, who was suspended from school, being stabbed to death.
The incident is also believed to be gang-related, but Highvelder could not confirm the case.
“It’s unfortunate that the learners know about these gangs but are afraid to speak out; we are not safe in this school; our lives are in danger, and it could be us tomorrow.”
The pupil was transported to Ermelo Provincial Hospital by the teachers, but unfortunately succumbed to his injury in hospital.
Ermelo police spokesperson, Carla Prinsloo confirmed the incident.
According to her, the four suspects allegedly jumped over the fence at the school and attacked the learner.
“He was stabbed once in the chest, police are on the lookout for the suspects and no arrests have been made as yet.”
Cebisa Secondary School management is currently visiting the family of the deceased.
