Community members are disgruntled about the lack of sanitation in the informal settlement in Ext 1 in Wesselton.
This became apparent to the Highvelder Newspaper after the recent tragedy where a two-year-old boy drowned in a pit toilet.
Residents feel that if there were proper toilet facilities in the area the incident could have been prevented and the little boy’s live spared.
According to one of the community members, they have reported the matter to the municipality on numerous occasions, to no avail.
Water and sanitation services remains one of the biggest challenges the community face.
