Schools reopen and classes resume after disruptions at schools in Wesselton

Reggie Masuku's deputy principal, Mr Amos Sipho Hlatshwayo, stated that pupils had returned to school and that teaching and learning have resumed.

WESSELTON – Classes at Reggie Masuku Secondary School returned to normal after seven men infiltrated the school premises with knives on April 6.

A resident who wished to remain anonymous, told Highvelder that the men are members of a local gang notoriously known for terrorising the community.

“As soon as they entered the premises, they ran to the classes, barging the doors and dragging pupils outside and threatening to stab them, “he said.

Reggie Masuku’s deputy principal, Mr Amos Sipho Hlatshwayo, stated that pupils had returned to school and that teaching and learning have resumed.

“The motive of the incident is still unknown and a case has not been opened with the local police,” Mr Hlatshwayo said,

“The incident has impacted us greatly, but things have returned to normal for now.”
