When describing her grandson, the Suncity resident refers to him as a loving and respectful young man who they were under the impression had a bright future ahead of him.

“We are surprised of what is being said about our grandson and that he was part of a gang. We viewed him as an always obedient child who respected and listened to his elders,” Dube said.

Dube stated that because the child’s mother does not work and she herself is a pensioner, the funeral arrangements has put a strain on her family.

“We are grateful to have received groceries from the school to help during the week, but the day of the burial is approaching and its hard to prepare with no finances.”

The family is pleading with the community to donate food items which will go towards the preparation of the funeral.

The funeral will take place in Suncity on August 20.
