Carolina police warn learners about the consequences of having a criminal record
Three DCS ambassadors, who are parolees, talked to the learners about their experiences in prison and warned them about the effects of gangsterism, crime and having a criminal record.
CAROLINA – Local police and various stakeholders conducted a school safety awareness campaign at Zinikeleni Secondary School and Sobhuza Primary School on August 30.
The school safety co-ordinator, Sergeant Thabang Mokwana, the sector commander, members of the Department of Social Development, the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) and the community correction ambassadors visited the schools and distributed pamphlets to break the silence of sexual offences and provide crime prevention tips.
“The campaign focused on drugs, gangsterism, bullying and ill-discipline prevalent in schools in Carolina,” Mokwana said.
Learners were encouraged to focus on school, and learning and to respect their educators in order to have a bright future and produce good results.
