SHEEPMOOR – A 32-year-old man was arrested on September 8 for dealing in dagga.
According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a provincial police spokesperson, the Sheepmoor police were conducting a sting operation on the R65 when they stopped a red Toyota bakkie with one occupant.
They searched the bakkie and found 59 bags of dagga weighing about 320kg.
The estimated street value of the dagga is R480 000.

The police’s investigation also revealed that the man did not have valid documentation to be in South Africa, and a charge of contravention of the Immigration Act was added against him.
He is expected to appear in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on September 12.
The provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela, commended the police for their continuous hard work in the fight against drug trafficking.
“The members should keep up the good work – their efforts are not in vain. We acknowledge their enthusiasm with much appreciation,” Manamela said.
