Vehicle used in Ermelo Jewellers armed robbery recovered

A major breakthrough in the Ermelo Jewellers robbery as the stolen getaway vehicle is recovered in a joint police operation.

ERMELO – The stolen getaway vehicle used in the armed robbery at Ermelo Jewellers in the Merino Mall has been recovered.

Just moments ago, Spartan Security Services, working closely with local SAPS detectives and the Provincial Organised Crime Unit, swiftly tracked down the white Honda sedan believed to have been used by the seven armed suspects during the robbery just earlier this week.

The vehicle was parked inside a yard in Davel Street, near the AJ Swanepoel Stadium in Ermelo.

According to Jaco Kirk of Spartan Security Services, the vehicle, reported stolen in Johannesburg earlier this month, was found following the coordinated search operation.

It has been seized for forensic examination.

SAPS officers and forensic investigators were on-site when Highvelder arrived.

The robbery took place earlier this week when seven armed suspects stormed the store before fleeing the scene in the white sedan. No serious injuries were reported.
