Residents demand fair treatment after weeks of power cuts in Cwebezela

Frustrated residents in Ermelo’s Cwebezela area call for urgent action over repeated outages and service failures.

ERMELO – Residents of Cwebezela, particularly Extension 6, say they have had enough of constant power failures, stolen cables, and poor communication from the Msukaligwa Municipality.

In a letter sent to the municipal manager and the electricity department, a resident accused the municipality of neglecting their area while others receive more reliable service.

“Ext 6 is disproportionately affected compared to other locations where electricity supply seems stable,” the letter states.

The community says they continue to pay for electricity but receive unreliable service that causes food spoilage, appliance damage, and disruption to studies.

“We are not asking for special treatment, we are asking for fair treatment,” the letter continues.

Questions were sent to municipal spokesperson Mandla Zwane for comment.
