Pet Dam in Ermelo to reopen temporarily for festive periods

Festive season access returns to the Pet Dam in Ermelo, but local residents remain wary of past problems resurfacing.

The Pet Dam in De Bruinpark will be open temporarily for the upcoming festive period, with specific operating hours and parking regulations in place.

The Msukaligwa Community and Social Service Department announced that the area will be accessible from Friday, December 12, between 09:00 and 20:00, until further notice.

Rules for visitors

To manage traffic and maintain order during the festive period, the following rules will apply:

  1. Visitors are not allowed to park inside the Pet Dam area.

  2. Cars should be parked at the Ermelo Sport Inn parking area.

Community reaction remains mixed

The Pet Dam in De Bruinpark, Ermelo, was officially closed to the public after years of complaints about public drinking, littering, broken glass, and general disturbances.

The temporary reopening will undoubtely received mixed responses from residents.

Some residents are concerned that weekend revellers could once again create disturbances.
