Repairs 50% complete as crews work to restore power in Ermelo

Residents are advised to treat all electrical connections as live during this period and to exercise caution.

Residents in parts of Ermelo are currently affected by an unplanned electricity outage due to a faulty medium-voltage (MV) supply cable.

According to a notice issued by Msukaligwa Local Municipality earlier today, the outage has impacted areas including Adolf Schoeman, HF Verwoerd, General Botha, Debruin Park and surrounding streets.

At the time of the notice, the estimated restoration time remained unknown.

Municipal spokesperson Mandla Zwane has since confirmed that repair work is approximately 50% complete, indicating steady progress on site.

An image from the scene show municipal teams excavating to access the faulty cable, a process typically undertaken once the fault has been located following technical fault-finding procedures.

Residents are advised to treat all electrical connections as live during this period and to exercise caution.
