Accused in Lieutenant Colonel Piet Pretorius murder identified

They face charges of murder, illegal possession of a semi-automatic firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and defeating the ends of justice. 

The Ermelo Magistrate’s Court proceedings in the case involving the murder of Lieutenant Colonel Piet Pretorius have been postponed to January 27.

The suspects, including a former police official Mthobisi Nkosi (40), Aubrey Xaba (35), Skhumbuzo Skhakhane (40), Nyiko Mujovo (30) and Valencia Skhosana (36) were remanded in custody.

The Mpumalanga Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Major General Nico Gerber, said he appreciated the efforts of the investigators and ensured the public that the team appointed to investigate the matter will leave no stone unturned to present a watertight case to court.

Lieutenant Colonel Piet Pretorius (59), commander of the Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit, was tragically killed in a shooting incident on January 16.
