Ermelo kids learn about hygiene and kindness in special outreach by correctional services
Social workers visited a Sun City day centre, shared hygiene tips, taught anti-bullying values, and donated warm winter essentials.
ERMELO – The Department of Correctional Services extended a heart-warming gesture of community outreach on May 23, visiting a local day care centre in Sun City.
A group of 65 eager children was delighted to welcome their visitors, who brought not only gifts but also valuable life lessons.
The outreach initiative saw auxiliary social workers, currently undertaking their practical training at the Department of Correctional Services, engage with the young learners.
The team provided a demonstration on proper handwashing techniques, emphasising the importance of hygiene.

Following this, they presented a compelling show designed to educate the children about bullying, promoting a message of kindness and empathy towards one another.
The auxiliary social workers had diligently collected donations of clothing, which they gifted to the school to be distributed to underprivileged children.
Each child received a box containing either a warm scarf, a pair of socks or mittens and a sweet treat.
The school thanked the group for taking the time to spoil the children.
