Thick smoke from a veldfire caused poor visibility on the N4 highway between the Hendrina and Bethal off-ramps, resulting in a multi-vehicle collision earlier today.

According to Highvelder’s sister newspaper, the Middelburg Observer, eyewitness reports indicate that dense smoke severely reduced visibility on this busy stretch of the N4, leading to dangerous driving conditions.

Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported.
