Correctional Services uplift Ermelo through outreach and clean-up
DCS teams up with local partners to uplift vulnerable residents through service, donations, and impactful community involvement.
ERMELO – The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is making meaningful strides in strengthening its role within the community through active engagement and impactful outreach projects.
Activities on June 10 and 11 included high-level stakeholder visits, generous donations to vulnerable groups, and a hands-on community clean-up to demonstrate the DCS’s commitment to rehabilitation and partnership beyond prison walls.
A delegation from the Bethal Management Area, led by area co-ordinator for corporate services, Mzwamakhaya Dlepu, visited Ermelo to engage with a key stakeholder as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration and partnership.

Dlepu emphasised the importance of such partnerships in supporting both the DCS officials and the wider community.
“The DCS operates within an integrated network and values partnerships that empower our officials and benefit the public,” he said.
The following day, officials of the Ermelo Correctional Centre visited The Lighthouse, a local organisation dedicated to supporting individuals living with depression or who are homeless.
