WATCH – Bloody sewage water spills in Merino Street

A bloody tide of sewage has once again engulfed Merino Street in Ermelo, leaving residents reeling from the stench and fearing for their children's health.

ERMELO – Residents of Merino Street are up in arms as bloody sewage water are spilling into the street, posing a severe health hazard.

“It’s disgusting. The smell is unbearable, and we’re worried about our children getting sick,” said a resident in the area.

As the Highvelder arrived at the drain in Merino Street, a gut wrenching smell lingered in the air.

Learners on holiday were walking near the flowing water and cars were looking for ways to avoid driving through the blood contaminated water.

According to a resident in the area, she saw the spill at about 09:00 this morning. At about 12:00 they saw a municipal vehicle at the manhole.

She said the manhole in question is a constant problem in the area.

Highvelder sent media enquiries to Mandla Zwane, spokesperson for Msukaligwa Local Municipality, and awaits response.
