Diesel spill after bakkie crashes into truck near Ermelo toll gate on N17

A diesel spill was reported after a crash between a bakkie and light truck on the N17 near the Ermelo toll gate.

A collision occurred around 22:00 last night on the N17 highway near the toll gate outside Ermelo, en route to Bethal.

A bakkie towing a diesel trailer crashed into the back of a light truck.

Emergency services, including the Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Services, responded promptly to the scene. Ambulance services were also dispatched.

At the time of reporting, it was unclear whether any injuries had occurred.

Diesel was reportedly spilt across the roadway, prompting authorities to urge motorists to exercise caution when approaching the area.

Cleanup operations were underway when Highvelder left the scene.

The incident happened not long after emergency services had tended to the scene of a separate incident, where a truck transporting wooden logs caught alight just before the toll gate heading toward Bethal.
