Jurassic adventure lands at AJ Swanepoel Stadium in Ermelo
Ermelo prepares for a three-day dinosaur experience featuring animatronic creatures, rides, and family-friendly outdoor entertainment zones.
Ermelo is set to roar to life as lifesize animatronic and static dinosaurs make their way to the cricket field at the AJ Swanepoel Stadium this weekend from Friday to Sunday (9:00–17:00 daily), bringing a full prehistoric adventure for families, schools, and dinosaur fans of all ages.
Following successful tours across South Africa the Dinosaur World Festival Ermelo promises a bigger, interactive experience where education meets entertainment.
Â
The director producer, David Huni, said, “Visitors can enjoy a relaxed outdoor day with picnics, music, food stalls, and hands-on activities while exploring a world of dinosaurs brought to life with sound and movement.”
Families can choose how they experience the festival through three curated sections:
Â
-
- The Dino Expo (A) features medium-sized animatronic dinosaurs designed to entertain and educate with interactive displays.
- Jurassic Giants (B) takes visitors face-to-face with massive life-sized dinosaurs, including a 12-metre T. rex and a 20-metre Australotitan experience accessed through a giant T. rex structure.
- Amusement Rides (C) adds a funfair-style experience with themed rides and attractions.
Beyond the main sections, the festival offers a wide range of paid activities (R150–R200 each) including dinosaur rides, inflatable play areas, electric trains, Jurassic cars, pirate ship rides, a cup-and-saucer ride, a dinosaur nest playground, princess cars, and more.

Ticket options are structured to suit different budgets and group sizes.
Silver, Gold, and Diamond packages offer varying levels of access, from general entry and one section (Silver), to expanded access and multiple sections (Gold and Diamond), with family and group bundles available for 4, 8, or 16 guests.
Early bird pricing is available for bookings made before 4 June, with standard rates applying thereafter.
Individual section tickets are also available for those who prefer a focused experience, with entry priced per person for each area of the festival.
School groups are also catered for with special weekday packages for groups of 25, 50, or 100 learners and accompanying adults, making it an ideal educational outing.
Organisers note that children are defined as 14 years and under, with free entry for children under 10 months.
Food and merchandise will be available on site, and guests are encouraged to book early due to expected high demand and limited capacity.
