Community called to support beloved newsroom receptionist
Support is needed for a familiar newsroom face as she battles serious health complications requiring surgery.
A sister newspaper’s appeal has been issued in Secunda for Ridge Times receptionist Sanet McFadden, who urgently requires gallbladder surgery after being diagnosed with multiple gallstones.
Many people in Secunda know Sanet McFadden as the warm smile and friendly voice behind the reception desk at the Ridge Times newspaper.
For years, she has been the first point of contact for readers and visitors, offering assistance with patience, kindness and an open willingness to help anyone who walks through the door.
Over time, she has become a familiar and deeply cherished presence in the community.
Sudden health challenge
Sanet is now facing a painful and serious health challenge.
She has been diagnosed with multiple gallstones and urgently requires surgery to have her gallbladder removed.
Urgent need for surgery
The condition is causing her significant pain and ongoing discomfort, and doctors have indicated that the operation is necessary to prevent further complications and to restore her health.
As medical expenses continue to mount, colleagues and community members have come together in a heartfelt plea, asking for support during this difficult time in her life.
Community appeal for support
“Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference,” a friend and former colleague said.
“If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and on your social networks.”
Those close to the appeal say the same compassion Sanet has shown to others over the years is now being called back to her in her time of need.

“Let’s show Sanet the same kindness, care, and support that she has shown to so many of us over the years.”
It is further emphasised that collective support can help ease the financial burden of the urgent surgery, allowing her to focus fully on recovery and healing.
“Thank you for your generosity, prayers, and support.”
