Best of Ermelo Readers’ Choice Awards celebrate local excellence

Hundreds of nominations and public votes culminated in an awards ceremony celebrating those who have earned the community’s trust and support.

ERMELO – The inaugural Best of Ermelo Readers’ Choice Awards honoured businesses, organisations and individuals recognised by the community during a ceremony at African Sky Hotels Ermelo Inn on Thursday, July 9.

Following months of nominations and public voting, winners and finalists gathered with business owners, community leaders and invited guests to recognise excellence across a wide range of categories.

Master of ceremonies Lion du Plessis guided the event, while guest speaker Marié Otto challenged attendees to think beyond business success and consider the legacy they leave within their communities. She said businesses become truly successful when they become part of a town’s story, earning trust, fostering lasting relationships and creating hope for future generations.

“Congratulations to every winner and finalist. These awards are a reflection of the community’s voice, and being recognised by the people you serve is one of the highest honours any business or individual can receive,” Wayne van der Walt, Highvelder editor, said.

He also thanked readers for embracing the initiative, as well as the event sponsors—African Sky Hotels Ermelo Inn, Merino Mall and Purejoy Water—and the Ermelo community for helping make the inaugural Best of Ermelo Readers’ Choice Awards a success.

The official Best of Ermelo Winners’ supplement will be published during the week of August 28, celebrating this year’s winners while offering businesses a unique opportunity to showcase their products, services and brands to thousands of local readers.
