Cold, wet start before warmer weather returns to Ermelo
Residents can expect a chilly beginning to the week before temperatures steadily recover heading towards the weekend.
ERMELO – Residents can expect a cold and wet Tuesday, with overcast skies, showers and the possibility of thunderstorms setting the tone for the start of the week.
AccuWeather forecasts a maximum of about 11°C and a minimum of 7°C for September 29, before conditions gradually begin improving later in the week.
The unsettled weather comes as parts of Mpumalanga are under a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms.
The warning includes the possibility of heavy downpours, strong winds, hail and excessive lightning.
Rain continues before conditions improve
Wednesday is expected to remain cold and overcast, with periods of rain during the morning.
Temperatures are forecast to reach only about 10°C, dropping to around 6°C overnight.
A noticeable improvement is expected from Thursday, when sunny periods should develop and the daytime temperature is forecast to climb to approximately 17°C.
Friday should bring further warming, with some sunshine before cloud cover increases and a maximum temperature of about 20°C.
Warmer conditions for Saturday
Saturday is currently expected to be the warmest and most favourable day of the week, with sunshine followed by increasing cloud and a maximum of around 22°C.
The overnight minimum is forecast at about 10°C.
The warmer spell may be short-lived, however, with another change expected on Sunday.
Cloudy and breezy conditions are forecast, with a few showers possible during the morning followed by showers and thunderstorms later in the day.
Temperatures are expected to reach about 17°C.
Overall, the forecast points to a marked transition in Ermelo’s weather this week – from cold, wet and unsettled conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday to warmer and brighter weather from Thursday into Saturday, before rain potentially returns on Sunday.
