Ermelo athletes stood out at East Coast championship
The Crossfit IRA team made the final, but missed the podium with 15 seconds and ended their journey in the fourth place.
Members of Crossfit IRA in Ermelo took part in the Endurance East Coast championship that was held from 7 to 9 September at the Tramways Building in Port Elizabeth.
The Endurance East Coast championship provides a unique opportunity to witness the best athletes in the sport in a single day of competition for individuals and two days of competition for the team event.
The individual events took place on Friday.
Crossfit IRA took part in the affiliates only elite division.
The team consisted of four team members, namely Neill Pieterse, Cornel Pieterse, Antoinette Scott and Jenna Scott.
They did various workouts over the weekend that tested the athletes’ fitness in all areas.
Some of the movements they had to face at the championships were synchronised box jump overs, low ring muscle-ups, Yoke-carries, handstand walk and a snatch ladder to showcase some real strength.
The Crossfit IRA team qualified for the final event, but missed the podium with only 15 seconds. They ended in the fourth place overall in their division.
