Shalom Marathon Club runners compete in Soweto Marathon in Johannesburg

A total of 17 runners from the local club competed in the race and 16 of them made the cut-off time.

A total of 17 athletes from the local Shalom Marathon Club took part in the 25th edition of the Soweto Marathon at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday, 4 November.

The following athletes made it in the cut-off time and these are their times:

• Dawn Madondo 2:08,44

• Bulelwa Shongwe 2:17,56
• Johannes Habile 2:29,14
• Busisiwe Shongwe 2:52,19
• Yonela Dwayi 2:52,47
• Bheki Shongwe 3:40,42
• Thembinkosi Nzuza 3:55,1
• Molifi Hlangwane 4:04,22
• Mfanufikile Khumalo 4:22,43
• Makhosonke Dhladhla 4:26,50
• Mzungezi Nhlabathi 4:58,52

Sintayehu Legese Yinesu from Ethopia was the first runner to cross the line in an impressive time of 2:19,10‚ scooping the men’s title and the R250,000 prize money.

South Africa’s Irvette Van Zyl‚ won the women’s 42.2km race for the second year running and setting a new course record of 2:33,43.
