Athletes brave shivering cold at weekly parkrun

Five runners posted their personal best times, with two participants completing the Kralinbergh parkrun for the first time.

ERMELO – A total of 20 runners braved the shivering temperatures at the weekly parkrun on April 16.

Stephan Jacobs was the fastest man on the course, finishing the 5km-route in a time of 24:01.

Adam Thatcher finished second, with a time of 31:02.

Veronica du Toit was the first woman to complete the course, with her time of 31:25.

Du Toit also set her personal best time.

It was Richard Travis’s first parkrun at Kralinbergh, and he finished fourth with a personal best of 31:26.

Alta Roux, Lakesh Maharaj, Louise Jacobs, Rethia Naudé, Tanya du Plessis and Tommie Jacobs were the volunteers who made the parkrun possible.

The Kralinbergh parkrun takes place every Saturday at 08:00 at the Kralinbergh Estate on the Breyten Road.
