Club hosts soccer tournament at Khayelihle Sportsgrounds to celebrate Youth Day
The day was to commemorate the late founder of SYC, Percy Nkambule, who passed away in 2015.
Success Youth Club (SYC) hosted a soccer tournament for local teams at the Khayelihle Sportsgrounds to celebrate Youth Day on June 16.
The aim, according to SYC secretary Nomkhosi Mbokani, was to commemorate the late founder of the club, Percy Nkambule, who had passed away in 2015.
Nkambule, who was living with a disability, founded the club in 1992 with the goal of keeping young local children off the streets by engaging them in sports.

The competition saw a total of four local teams participate, including SYC, Ndandane FC from Enkanini, Future Champs FC from Thusi Village, and Thusi Real Stars FC from Thusi Village, owing to the support of other local players and residents.
The players, whose ages range from 13 to 16, were ecstatic to be cheered on by their teammates.
“We want to create more events like this, since the goal is to keep young people people off the streets or from succumbing to peer pressure, which may lead to awful consequences such as becoming members of notorious gangs in the area that target young people as members,” Mbokani said.
She added the club, with the support of the players’ guardians, plans to adopt other activities as part of the soccer competition, to be conducted every two months.
