Erries kick off winter sports season against Kanonkop

Laerskool Ermelo’s rugby and netball teams launched their 2026 winter sports season on March 19 with a series of friendly home matches against Middelburg’s Laerskool Kanonkop.

Laerskool Ermelo took control early on at the rugby fields. The U9 team set a high bar with a 37-0 victory, while the second team maintained the momentum with a 24-0 win.

The first team match was unfortunately halted due to lightning safety protocols. However, the home side was already leading comfortably at 15-0 when the game was called off.

In the other age groups, the U11 team fought to a hard-earned 17-17 draw, while the U10 team suffered a 0-22 defeat.

On the netball courts, the girls gave it their all in every game.
