Hans Storm Memorial Race draws runners to Ermelo streets

Athletes of all abilities braved cool Highveld conditions to take part in a the local memorial race.

Athletes, families and fitness enthusiasts gathered in Ermelo this past weekend for the annual Hans Storm Memorial Race, hosted by the Ermelo Athletics Club.

Starting from Body Strong Fitness on President CR Swart Street, participants could choose between a 10km road race and a 4.9km fun run.

The event attracted competitive athletes, recreational runners and walkers, all taking advantage of favourable winter running conditions.

The race has become a popular fixture on the local athletics calendar, promoting healthy living, community participation and remembrance.

Supporters lined sections of the route and welcomed runners at the finish area, while all finishers received commemorative medals.

In the 10km race, Thembinkosi Mavuso of Conquerors AC won the men’s category in 32:24, while Frederika Rossouw of Nedbank Gauteng claimed victory in the women’s division in 45:27.
