One dead in multiple vehicle collision in KwaNdengezi
Paramedics say they were called to the scene on Old Richmond Road at around 06:30, where multiple vehicles were involved in a collision.
ONE person has been confirmed dead by paramedics in a multiple vehicle collision on Friday morning (August 14) in KwaNdengezi near Mariannhill.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said emergency services were at the scene on Old Richmond Road, where a truck, a taxi and a bakkie were involved in the collision.
“Paramedics were called to the location just before 6:30 this morning and arrived to find total chaos,” said Jamieson, who added that the taxi was fully loaded, with occupants in the truck and bakkie too.

The deceased, said Jamieson, is believed to be a man in his thirties, with other people having sustained “various injuries ranging from moderate to critical”.
“Approximately 20 people or more have been treated and transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they require,” said Jamieson.
He added that the road will be closed in both directions for a while “to allow the SAPS and the Metro Police to investigate what led to this collision”.
Road users were advised to avoid the route.
