Hillcrest Primary on alert

It is alleged that a suspicious blond male has been approaching students at Hillcrest Primary.

PARENTS, pupils and staff of Hillcrest Primary School remain on high alert after a suspicious man was reported to have approached pupils after school, several weeks ago.

According to a Waterfall Crime Watch report, two pupils allegedly reported the man to the school staff, after he invited some of the pupils to his white vehicle, which was parked on Emoyeni Drive, offering them cell phone upgrades.

The man was described as a 30-year old blond male wearing a navy blue shirt with a rucksack.

Lt France Mkhize, of Hillcrest SAPS, confirmed that the police had received a report of the incident.

“We have also received reports of rape and human trafficking cases in the Upper Highway area. As a law enforcement agency it has always been advisable to be proactive. We urge the parents to meet us halfway by educating children to be extra vigilant and not to talk to strangers.” said Mkhize.

Hillcrest Primary School staff have reported that the incident was not captured on video surveillance, but they have subsequently, tightened security at the school.

Mkhize also urged to community to contact the SAPS if the man or his vehicle is seen again.
