Asil receives Pro Meritis blazer

SA’s top pupil receives prestigious award

SOUTH Africa’s top pupil for 2013, Asil Motala, joined a distinguished list of Westville Boys’ High School pupils at a special assembly at the school on Wednesday 15 January, where he was awarded a Pro Meritis Blazer.

According to headmaster, Trevor Hall, the Pro Meritis award can best be defined as an award to a young man at Westville Boys’ High School who has achieved a “degree of excellence” in his chosen field.

It is an award which, in its entirety, is the highest honour that the school can bestow on a boy. It is an award which is not bestowed very often and the ultimate decision will rest with the headmaster.

Asil was joined by some of the school’s 2013 top matriculants who all attained seven or more distinctions. The boys were Graham Taschner, Aneet Daji, Dilan Koovarjee, Aury Livingstone, Nikhil Maharaj, Bandile Mbele, Kyle Pillay, Azahar Valiallah, Steffen Wies, Yusuf Khan, Ethan Hitchcock, Nicholas Clarke, Naeem Shaikh, Jesse Mills, Hermann Tapamo, Jesse Mills, Nicholas Clarke, Hermann Tapamo and Gareth Kieck.
