Update: Hijack couple thank community for their support

Bullet removed from Justin's arm.

Hijack victims, Justin and Kristyl Mackley are back home and coming to terms with their traumatic ordeal.

Kristyl had her car hijacked as she returned home to Cobbleset Lane, New Germany on the night of Monday, 30 June.

Justin came to his wife’s rescue after hearing her scream and ended up being shot in the right arm by one of the hijackers before they escaped with the car, a white Corsa Essentia (NPN 75042).

The bullet that hit Justin’s arm, missed vital bone, nerves and arteries and a surgeon at EThekwini Hospital was able to remove the bullet yesterday (2 July) without complications and he was released later that day from hospital.

He is back at work.

The bullet is being kept by the police for evidence. According to Lt Manqele, Pinetown Communication officer, the case is still under investigation but no arrests have been made and there are no leads on the missing vehicle.

Kristyl said, “We are very grateful to family, friends and neighbours for their support, love and care.”
