Robin Hood brings hope to orphans

Disadvantaged youngsters were treated to a morning of fun and treats.

THE Robin Hood Foundation held a special HOPE Breakfast morning at the Pot & Kettle in Bothas Hill for 35 orphaned children.

The children, between the ages of four and 16 years old from the Shongweni and Ntshongweni communities were transported to the restaurant where they enjoyed a hearty breakfast and treats, followed by entertainment in the form of a jumping castle, face painting, balloon sculpting, bubble machine and popcorn.

They were then each presented with a brand new school uniform and a much needed Gogo bag filled with food, a blanket and goodies to take home.

“The aim of this project is to inspire hope in these children who have suffered devastating loss in their young lives, most of them having lost both their parents, and are now being cared for by an older sibling, aunt, neighbour or their aging gogos. We plan to take them out of their harsh reality for a while, let them be children, let them play and enjoy their time with us,” said Kim Griffith Jones.
