Refeloe Sililo is Kloof Senior Primary School’s SPAR Star of the Month.
The Grade 7 pupil was chosen for her prowess both on the sports field and in the classroom. In netball, one of the many sports she participates in, she was nominated as the 1st team captain, was selected for the U13 PADSSA outdoor netball team and hand picked to play for the Highway Action Netball Super League U14 team. At school she captained the first team, which went unbeaten in all five of its games. “It was really fun and I enjoyed the experience. My goal as their captain was to push them to try and win all of their games but also to ensure that they had fun while doing it,” said Refeloe.
Her passion is athletics and even though she said she never trains for the sport, she admitted her love for running. She broke the 150m sprint record, the long jump record and was awarded the Victrix Ludorum at the school’s recent interhouse athletics day. She was also selected to take part in the PADSSA athletics 150m sprint.
She was chosen as the house captain for Richmond House at her school and participated in various cross country races. She was also selected as the school’s cross country captain and played 1st team hockey.
On the weekends, she enjoys chilling with her friends, going shopping and watching soccer. “Neymar is my idol as he encourages people to do their best even if things don’t go their way,” said Refeloe.
At school her favourite subject is history but she also enjoys mathematics. “I want to become a paramedic and help people, but there is also the possibility of going into the IT field and study programming,” said Refeloe.
