Fun in the sun

The Skin Cancer Foundation SA will launch its first National Skin Cancer Screening Day next week.

EYETHU Ndlela, Kelly Stock and Hlumisa Madlala from Kloof Junior Primary School encourage Highway residents to layer on the sunscreen in recognition of the Skin Cancer Foundation of South Africa’s first National Skin Cancer Screening Day on Monday 1 September.

In recognition of this day, the Be Sun Safe project, an initiative between Nivea Sun and SunSavvy, an organisation created by concerned Durban moms Donna Short and Hayleigh Bott, have begun installing sunscreen dispensers filled with Nivea Sun Moisturising Sun Spray SPF 50+ in school classrooms and outdoor play areas throughout KwaZulu-Natal.

More than 110 sunscreen dispensers have been installed in 26 schools in KwaZulu-Natal since the start of the year. This means that, through the programme, approximately 3 000 school-goers are safely protected during their school day and sport. For screening sites visit www.skincancerfoundation.org.za
