Seniors pampered at Christmas party
More than 120 senior citizens were treated to a three course lunch at the Kloof Town Hall at the weekend.
THE Kloof Lions hosted its annual festive senior citizens Christmas party at the Kloof Town Hall at the weekend.
Senior citizens from around the Kloof, Hillcrest, Waterfall and Embo areas enjoyed a beautiful violin piece by William Young from Highbury Preparatory School. They were then entertained by carols lead by Aaron Smith, AJ Westley, Sebastian Cotteril and William Young accompanied by the Kloof Cubs. Owen Couchman performed a hip hop dance and a local ballerina performed a piece from the movie, Frozen.
A three course meal was enjoyed by all and the Kloof Scouts, Cubs as well as dedicated Grade 6 pupils from Highbury Prep, assisted with the serving of drinks and meals.
Lions International is a non-profit, community-based organisation that is best described by the motto “We Serve”. Kloof Lions has been undertaking projects in the Kloof area for the past 45 years, since it was chartered in 1969. All members are volunteers, who selflessly give of their time for no financial reward.
“Thanks to all that assisted with donations, planning and on the day assistance. City Chicks came on board, not only supplying all the pre-packed desserts, but also bringing their staff in to wash the dishes on the day. Robyn and her team from RGM productions with all the décor, Waterfall Spar, Pick ‘n Pay Kloof, Pick ‘n Pay Head Office, Distell, The Gardener Magazine and many many more that it would take too long to mention individually,” said Tricia Smith, from the pensioners’ party committee.
