Tennis marathon hits Highway

Help the Cowies Hill Sports Club reach its fundraising target of R60 000, which will be donated to three local NPOs.

Join Steve Phaup, Jes Foord, Clinton Hubbard, Paul Barham, Johan Caritz and Hans Stils for the Cowies Hill Sports Club’s tennis marathon fundraiser from 6 to 7 December.

Six members from the club will take part in a 36 hour tennis marathon, with four hours of continuous playing and a two hour break, to raise funds for Headway Natal, The Jes Foord Foundation and the Kloof and Highway SPCA. The first tennis balls will be served at 5am and the last ball will be hit at 5pm that Sunday evening. The group is hoping to play an average of 560 games during their time on the courts and aim to raise R60 000.

There will also be a fun morning for children to learn to play tennis as well as delicious boerewors rolls and hot dogs on sale and a jumping castle. Highway residents are also encouraged to take along their tennis rackets to the club, situated at 1 Lynton Gardens Place in Cowies Hill, and join in on a few games with the club’s players.

If anyone would like to donate per game, per hour or a make a general donation, contact Dave on 082 307 8534 or Clinton on 072 317 1309.
