Tennithon fundraiser nets R30 000
Three local charities will benefit from the 36-hour tennithon fundraiser.

Hans Stils, Johan Calitz, Paul Barham, Lance Swan ad Clinton Hubbard felt a sense of pride and accomplishment after completing a challenging 36-hour fundraising tennithon.
The first ball was served at 5am last Saturday morning and the last ball was served at 5pm on Sunday evening. “Well done to our six brave warriors who hung in until the end. A big thank you for their valiant efforts and the benefits their pains and commitment will bring to the three chosen charities and the club,” said Dave Mitchell, from the Cowies Hill Sports Club.
The team of six, Laura Wakeford, Clinton Hubbard, Paul Barham, Johan Calitz, Lance Swan and Hans Stols, far surpassed their goal of 560 games during the allotted time period as they completed a total of 761 games. Highway residents and corporates were urged to pledge donations per game, per hour or a make a general donation. “A big thank you to our sponsors and donors who supported both the event and the players. Last but not least, thank you to all the people who were there at the end to cheer the players across the finishing line.
All of the money raised would be split between three local charities, the Kloof and Highway SPCA, The Jes Foord Foundation and Headway-Natal. So far the group raised on average R36 000. If you are still interested in making a donation, contact Dave on 082 307 8534.
