The ‘pawfect’ meeting for nature lovers
Don't miss out on the Golden Paws Society's first meeting for 2015, during which the guest speaker will discuss the importance of bees.
IF you are all about animal welfare, then the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s Golden Paw Society is for you. The Kloof and Highway SPCA has extended an open invitation to join the society to all its supporters and community members who care about the welfare of animals and who would like to become more actively involved in the society.
According to the SPCA’s fundraising and marketing manager, Barbara Laubscher, the aim of the Golden Paw Society is to welcome supporters in as part of the SPCA family and keep them informed about the work undertaken by the Kloof and Highway SPCA in terms of inspectorate activities, animal healthcare, care of animals in its shelter, outreach clinics and education to promote the humane treatment of all animals.
“We will host a morning tea every month, on the last Thursday of the month, during which community members will be addressed by a guest speaker on
topics of general interest,” she said.
At the January meeting, Janice Van Eck of the Durban Bee Club will give a presentation on the important role bees play in the environment.
“Our guests will also be addressed by key SPCA staff members, who will discuss our latest news, activities and events, including some new interesting success stories and an update on the chaos we experienced over New Year with fireworks,” Barbara added.
All the society’s charity shops will be open for those who wish to go shopping before or after the tea. Guests will be invited for a guided tour around the animal shelter after the meeting as well.
The first meeting of this year is on Thursday, 29 January from 9.30am to 11.30am at the Kloof and Highway SPCA, 29 Village Road, in the
marquee outside Marilyn’s Tea House.
RSVP to Barbara Laubscher on 031 764 1212/3 or email fundraising@kloofspca.co.za by Tuesday, 27 January for catering and seating purposes.
There is no charge; however, donations are welcome.
