SEVENTEEN-year-old, Caitlin Anne Downes’ outstanding sporting and academic achievement has earned her the title of SPAR Star of the Month at Thomas More College.
The ambitious Grade 12 pupil has obtained various sporting accolades for cricket, hockey, softball and soccer. Last year, Caitlin was named the Player of the Year for softball and soccer at her school, she was the captain of the KZN U19 girls cricket team and she was selected to be in the SA U19 cricket team and SA Schools All Stars team (softball).
The determined Kloof teen, who recently received her honours blazer currently plays for the KZN Dolphins women’s cricket side and Chatsworth United Cricket Club. Classified in cricket as an all rounder, Caitlin will compete in Cape Town on 28 and 29 March.
Inspired by her mom and cricket coach, Caitlin who also has her SA colours for cricket, plans to study forensic pathology. When she is not excelling on the sports field, Cailtin enjoys reading and socialising with friends.
