High school artists to display their talent

The public is encouraged to view the art work of KZN High learners at Kearsney College.

A record number of KZN high schools have entered this year’s Kearsney College’s Visual Arts exhibition, including seven Highway schools.

Fifteen schools have submitted work, including Curro HCA, Hillcrest High, Kloof High, Thomas More, St Mary’s, Westville Boys’ High and Kearsney College from the Highway area; as well as Durban Girls’ College, Glenwood, Maris Stella, Danville, Northlands Girls’ High School, Maritzburg Christian School, Treverton and Scottburgh High School.

Now in its third year, the exhibition forms part of Culture@Kearsney and aims to reveal the remarkable creative talent amongst the youth in the province. Diversity is encouraged and works in any medium and size can be submitted.

The exhibition officially opens at 6pm on Wednesday,11 April and is then open to the public daily in the Greyhound Pavilion at Kearsney from Thursday, 12 to Tuesday, 17 April between 10am and 6.30pm on weekdays and 10am to 4.30pm over the weekend.

Culture@Kearsney is an annual programme of competitions and festivals which provides a platform for the youth in the province to showcase their talent and creativity. It will be followed at various intervals during the year by a number of other inter-schools events: a photographic competition, a dance and movement festival, a one-act play festival, a celebration of choirs from both primary and high schools and an evening of slam poetry, which will test the skills of youthful linguists.
