Medieval feast raises funds for the poor

Book your tickets now to support the Robin Hood Foundation.

THE Robin Hood Foundation, with the assistance of Caxton Local Newspapers, is hosting a Medieval Feast to celebrate 10 years of community service and the launch of its new book, ‘A Decade of Miracles’, at the Camelot Castle in Hillcrest on Friday, 5 June at 5.30pm.

The Robin Hood Foundation, a non-profit organisation, was formed in 2005 and formalised in 2007. It is run by a team of trustees who all work on a voluntary basis. The Robin Hood Foundation aims to mobilise resources from businesses and individuals for poor grannies and needy mums in disadvantaged communities. The people that are helped are known personally by the church workers and community workers and all donations are handed directly into the hands of people who need them.

Kim Griffith-Jones, coordinator for the Robin Hood Foundation, is appealing to businesses and individuals to please consider supporting the cause and sponsoring prizes for a raffle, mystery envelopes and lucky draw, or items for table gifts for our guests at this year’s fundraiser.

“All sponsors’ logos will be featured in post-event advertorial in the Caxton press and in all marketing material and presentations at the event,” said Griffiths-Jones.

Your contribution towards the fundraiser will help continue the four major community projects which are run during the course of each year. They are the Gogo Bags (where bags of groceries are supplied to grannies and orphan-headed households), the Child Headed Households project (which assists orphaned children affected by the HIV/Aids pandemic, who are caring for their siblings), the Love the Babies project (which supplies bags of unwanted and used baby clothes and goods to needy mums with newborn babies in poor HIV/Aids-affected communities) and, lastly, the Bless a Granny and Grandpa project (where elderly ‘forgotten’ folk at old age homes are given a wrapped gift on Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, containing toiletries, treats and sweets.

Tickets for the Medieval Feast are R300 each and include a welcome drink, three-course meal, costume hire and entertainment. Seats are limited.

For bookings, or if you would like to sponsor a prize or table gift items, contact Kim via e-mail on robinhoodfund@telkomsa.net, or call 076 612 9060, or visit the website, www.robinhoodfoundation.co.za. The book, ‘A Decade of Miracles’, will also be on sale at R150 each.
