Jean serves third term as president

Jean Senogles was inducted as the president of the Rotary Club of Pinetown on Saturday, 18 July.

PAST president, Wendy Mayall, handed over the Rotary Presidential Chain of Office to incoming president, Jean Senogles, at the Rotary Club of Pinetown’s induction luncheon at Pinehaven Rest Home on Saturday, 18 July.

Jean joined the Rotary Club of Pinetown 15 years ago and served her first term as president in 2006 to 2007, was re-elected in 2007 to 2008 and has recently taken her third term in office this year.

The theme for Rotary this year is ‘Be a gift to the world’.

She said that Rotary has been part of the community providing assistance to the less fortunate, especially women and children.

“We have been involved in many projects such as 30 crèches, old aged homes, a soccer club for children in the valley, reading grannies programme, a library and more, which has provided each Rotarian with joy, great fun and involvement in the community,” said Senogles.

Special awards went to Rotarian, Cheryl Marx – she received the Rotarian of the Year award for her contribution to Rotary, and Richard Tolken received the Green Cup for Distinguished Service to the Rotary District.

She added the Rotary Club of Pinetown had achieved great things over the years but now needs to pass on the change in command to younger individuals, aged 30 to 40 years. Those enthusiastic, young leaders interested in joining the Rotary Club of Kloof can contact Jean on 084 584 3330.
