Children’s home hosts fundraiser carnival

The carnival will include a tombola stall, a vintage car display, karate demonstration, face painters, two jumping castles, music and dance entertainment and food stalls.

JOIN in the fun and make a difference in a child’s life by supporting the Malvern Children’s Home annual carnival fundraising day on Saturday, 1 August.

This year the home is pulling out all the stops to make the carnival an unforgettable event for its children, the local community and all its generous supporters.

The Malvern Children’s Home is a place of safety and, for many of its 120 children, the only real home they will ever know. But like most children’s homes across the country, this one is also under threat because of growing needs and lack of funding.

The carnival, which is being held at the home at 11 Coniston Avenue, Malvern, from 9am to 1pm will include a tombola stall, a vintage car display, karate demonstration, face painters and two jumping castles.

On the entertainment side, you can expect a surprise performance by some of the young children and a vibrant dance performance by popular Durban duo, Statik. Selwyn Rautenbach and Clinton Green have danced together since 1995 and have performed at various events across the country, delighting audiences with their unique style.

Whether you go along for brunch or lunch, there are plenty of food stalls to satisfy all tastebuds, from lamb-on-the-spit rolls to curries and cakes. Entry is free.

The home director, Gerhard Botha, said: “By supporting our carnival, you will be helping us fulfil some of our dreams.”

Any donations or assistance of any kind for the home will be greatly appreciated. Contact Naomi at naomi.oosthuysen@malvernchildrenshome.co.za or call 031 464 0236.
