Taxi driver arrested for policeman’s death

A policeman was killed when he tried to stop a speeding taxi earlier today.

A METRO Police officer was killed earlier today on the M13 Durban-bound just before the Hillcrest/Old Main Road turn-off.

According to Brad Nathanson from Brad Nathanson Investigations, it is believed the officer jumped out of his vehicle to try and stop the driver of the taxi, who was speeding. Unfortunately, the driver failed to stop and hit the officer, killing him instantly.

Nathanson posted a status on his Facebook page, which read, “This office is sad to report the senseless and careless death of an on-duty Metro policeman who was killed by a taxi on the M13. Our sincere condolences to family and friends of the deceased.”

The driver of the taxi has been arrested.
